Inside the distinct triangular box is the G17 with a Co2 25 round magazine and tool plus a additional metal outer barrel, as well as a mag insert for dry firing.
The materials vary and are a combination of aluminium, metals and plastics. Lower frame is made of brown polymer and has a thin seam line down the middle of the frame. VFC Stark Arms have produced a really great looking and very tactical colour combination following the recent trends in the airsoft industry.
The slide colour compliments the brown frame with a matt anodized looking brown finish with a light green tone, which is very durable. I’ve been holstering it and shot about 300 rounds through it and so far there are no scratches anywhere on the or inside slide.
All the controls are black painted metal or plastic and complete the tactical look of the S17 totally.
The S17 ‘s guts are based on Marui but are not a clone as many parts are different to that of a TM Glock. Materials are also internally a combination of different metals and plastics.
Disassembly is very simple and exactly like a real steel glock with a metal slide lock. The slide lock and the slide release are the only metal controls on the gun. Trigger and safety are plastic as is the magazine release button which is supported by metal internally.
The Slide is CNC aluminium and has a fake metal extractor pin. Inside is a plastic spring guide with a double spring system like in the real steel gen 4. Outer barrel is plastic but a metal barrel is also supplied that can be fitted instead. The inner barrel is a brass tight bore barrel with a metal hopup unit that has a rubber with a split nub. The gas block is metal with a plastic end plate , a plastic cylinder and nozzle.
Internally the S17 is very similar to a Marui but has some differences like a 2 part metal frame base which is made of silver metal and black metal parts as opposed to being one part in the Marui G17.
The rest of the internals look like Marui and are probably compatible with parts and upgrades which is TBC at this point.
The mag is a slightly extended 25 round Co2, and has so far performed very well. It punctures the capsules quickly using the supplied hex key to screw in the cap. The base plate is slightly elevated and has a hole which you can use to easily screw the capsule into place without loosing the plate.
Loading can be done with by pulling back the follower, which unfortunately can’t be secured and must be held down. The mag can be filled through the feed lip or the front window. You also get a slide stopper that slides in and locks the follower, for dry firing.
