Orga Airsoft have just released a new Widebore Barrel range earlier this month. Available for PTW, AEG, Bolt Action and GBB, they have a large variety available.
People install a tight bore barrel for various reasons… better compression, accuracy, grouping and in the odd case range.
Due to the bore of the barrel being tighter, there is less space around the bb so every possible variant is more consistent. As air escapes passed the bb as it travels down the barrel, all that hard work that you put in to get a perfectly running build literally goes into thin air.
However, the idea behind a wide bore barrel is to have an equal amount of air pressure behind and on the sides of the bb making it more stable in flight but conditions need to be perfect such as a clean smooth barrel, stable hop system and 100% compression of the cylinder. In theory though, these need high volume (P*, gbbr ect) to work effectively. I would expect that 6.23 is probably a tad wide, (most bbs are what 5.95mm, thats nearly .3 of a mm) quite a noticeable gap.
So, what’s your thoughts? Do you reckon it’ll be effective? Or just give that 20ft grouping which you dread? Who knows, lets wait for a real test.
